Thrifty Blue – and a spot of orange

I found this crusty blue hat at a thrift store last week.  I won’t put it on my head because it’s the tiniest bit grubby.  I’m going to carefully take this baby apart and see if I can pattern it for an updated version.

I’m kind of excited about the craftmanship of this hat.  I think it might have been high quality in its day, which hopefully means I can learn something in the disassembly.

And lastly, I also bought this super fabulous chair for $5.  I even like the orange upholstery a bit; the trouble is that its innards are lumpy and unpleasant.  So it’s off to the upholsterers soon where I have no idea what color it will become.

About lionsdaughter

I like to make things, lots of things, but not all things. I love to sew, knit, embroider, take pictures, scrapbook, dye fibers, work clay in the summer, garden. I want to try weaving, spinning, and stain glass work. I have no interest in auto body, upholstery, or tanning (either working animal skin or purposefully darkening my own).
